• A Work of Renewal for Welcoming Maitreya
  • After the chee-sung on April 8, 1928, Tae-mo-nim performed a work of renewal.
  • She had an offering table placed outside the room in which Sahng-jeh-nim’s portrait was enshrined. She ordered that candles and incense should be lit and a large food offering be made.
  • In front of Gahng Jin-yohng’s field, which consisted of nine rice paddies, Tae-mo-nim had a sign put up. It read: “Rice Field for the Buddhas at Geum-sahn Temple.”
  • She then had Go Min-hwahn put on the formal robes of a monk. She told him to chant a Buddhist sutra called “Chun-su-gyung” and the Chil-sung-gyung Mantra in front of the offering table for twenty-four days.
  • After giving these instructions, She said, “This is a work of renewal for welcoming Maitreya, the head buddha in the Later Heaven’s Dragon Flower World. The destiny of Shakyamuni, the head buddha of the Early Heaven, has already passed.”
  • She chanted three times, “Heaven reborn, earth reborn, humanity reborn, Maitreya reborn.” Then, She went into Her room.
  • After the twenty-four days, when they were about to clean up the offering table, She said, “You have done well in making an offering to Maitreya Buddha.”
