• A Disciple Whose Mind Is True
  • One day in 1907, Sahng-jeh-nim was sitting inside with His disciples, when He said, “Let us go to where light is shining. Let us go to a place where light is shining.”
  • Hyung-yul understood what He meant, but Ho-yun did not. She asked, “Where is this bright place?”
  • “We are going to Byun Mountain,” Hyung-yul explained.
“Why are we going there?” asked Ho-yun.
“We have nothing to eat,” Hyung-yul answered, “so we will go there to catch fish.”
  • “How will we catch fish with our bare hands?” Ho-yun wondered.
Suddenly, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “This is Byun Mountain.”
Ho-yun looked outside in doubt, then shouted in surprise as she saw that the house had moved to the top of a mountain.
  • Also surprised, the disciples noisily talked among themselves.
Sahng-jeh-nim ordered Duk-ju, Chahn-moon, and a disciple with the surname So, “Go out and count the stars.”
  • The three went out and did as they were told. Two of them reported different numbers, and the other said, “I was unable to count them.”
  • “Those two lied, but you are telling the truth,” said Sahng-jeh-nim.
  • “Your mind is true.”
  • After doing this work of renewal, Sahng-jeh-nim took off His shirt and tied the sleeves together.
  • 10 He went outside and immediately came back in with His shirt full of carp and flounder. Suddenly, He had hot pepper paste to go with the fish, and they all ate together.
