- Wisdom for Conducting Oneself
- 1 Sahng-jeh-nim said to Hyung-yul, “Remember this well.” Then, He recited a poem:
- 處世柔爲貴 剛强是禍基
發言常欲訥 臨事當如癡
- 2 In conducting yourself, regard what is soft as precious.
- 3 What is rigid and strong is the source of trouble.
- 4 Always try to speak slowly.
- 5 In all matters, play the fool.
- 急地常思緩 安時不忘危
一生從此計 眞個好男兒
- 6 In times of crisis, always think calmly.
- 7 During times of ease, do not forget the perils of the past.
- 8 Follow this all your life.
Then, you may truly be called a great one.
