- Straying from Sahng-jeh-nim’s Shadow
- 1 On June 21, Shin Wun-il and Ee Chee-bohk brought to Sahng-jeh-nim some money that Chae Sa-yoon and his brother-in-law had offered.
- 2 Sahng-jeh-nim had Hyung-yul put the money in a chest and had Wun-il write down the names of those who had made the offering and then burn the writing.
- 3 He later told Hyung-yul to keep forty won in the chest;
- 4 the rest was to be used to buy food.
- 5 That night, Sahng-jeh-nim said to the disciples, “I will leave this place. To continue the work here would be burdensome.
- 6 Know that, between the time I leave and come back, the events that happen in the West are My doing.
- 7 If I continue My work in the other place, it will be limitless.”
- 8 He summoned Ja-hyun and asked him, “Do you believe in Me?”
- 9 “If I lacked faith,” Ja-hyun replied, “I would have betrayed You following the incident in Go-bu.”
- 10 “You are right. I am going away to another place to do My work. Keep your faith until I return.
- 11 If you stray from My shadow, you will die.”
- 12 “I sincerely wish to accompany You,” Ja-hyun pleaded. “Please allow me to.”
- 13 “Ja-hyun, it is not a place for you to go.”
