- Work of Renewal for the Day of Completion
- 1 On the morning of the twenty-third, Sahng-jeh-nim said to several disciples,
- 2 “Time is running out. There is a pressing matter. If you were born in the year 186210 and have a sister or daughter, bring her to serve as the su-bu.”
- 3 “Please do not worry,” Hyung-yul said. “You can proceed with the work. I will bring my daughter.”
- 4 “Have her wash her face and put on new clothes. Then, bring her here.” Hyung-yul brought his third daughter to the medicine room.
- 5 Sahng-jeh-nim instructed the disciples to move the medicine cabinet to the center of the room.
- 6 He told Hyung-yul’s daughter to walk around the cabinet three times and then stand next to it.
- 7 Next, Sahng-jeh-nim ordered Cha Gyung-suk to write the following words as Sahng-jeh-nim spoke them:
- 大時太祖 出世 帝王 將相 方伯 守令 蒼生點考 后妃所
- At the great time,
the founding emperor comes forth to the world,
Emperors and kings, generals and ministers, governors, mayors.
A census of all people is taken.

- 8 Instead of writing the Chinese character queen (妃), Gyung-suk wrote the character deceased mother (驢). Noticing this, Sahng-jeh-nim said, “You wrote it wrong.” He burned the paper and had Gyung-suk write the message correctly and paste it onto the cabinet.
- 9 He then said, “All of you are witnesses of this ceremony.” Sahng-jeh-nim sent Hyung-yul’s daughter home and then had Gyung-suk remove the writing and burn it.
