- After Sahng-jeh-nim Ascends to Heaven
- 1 On June 24, 1909, Sahng-jeh-nim passed away in the guest room of Gim Hyung-yul’s house and ascended to heaven.
- 2 About ten days later, when some disciples returned to Dae-heung Village to visit Su-bu-nim,
- 3 She asked, “Where is the Teacher staying now?”
- 4 Rather than telling Her the truth, Cha Gyung-suk said, “Our Teacher is far away. He went to Nanjing to conduct a work of renewal concerning the Qing dynasty.”
- 5 Su-bu-nim inquired when Sahng-jeh-nim would return, and Gyung-suk answered, “He will come back when He has completed the work.”
- 6 When two or three months had passed with no word of Sahng-jeh-nim’s return, She inquired again. Gyung-suk said that Sahng-jeh-nim was busy with the work of renewal.
- 9 Around that time, Su-bu-nim suffered acutely from a relapse of an eye disease.
- 10 Gyung-suk and Yoon-chil, who were deeply worried about Her, chanted a mantra with one mind,
- 11 and the eye disease soon went away.
- 12 From the end of June, 1910, Su-bu-nim often had visions of a bier in the middle of the yard or a stretcher in front of Her door.
- 13 One day, Sahng-jeh-nim came to Her. He caressed Her and said, “Why haven’t You looked for Me?”
