• Gohng-ooh Is Struck by Vengeful Energy
  • Just over a month before becoming a disciple of Sahng-jeh-nim, Gohng-ooh had a fight with a Christian man in the market in Chun-wun Village. The man threw a stone at Gohng-ooh, breaking his rib. Gohng-ooh fell to the ground, and it took some time for him to regain consciousness.
  • Only after weeks of treatment could he walk about. Later, Gohng-ooh told Sahng-jeh-nim he still could not touch his chest because of the pain.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim said, “Near the road, you once struck someone on the chest, leaving him on the verge of death. If you consider the harm you did to him, you will understand your fault.
  • Now you are thinking that, when you recover, you will find the Christian man who injured you and kill him. The vengeful energy from the man whom you had nearly killed possessed the Christian to get even with you. You should be thankful to be suffering as much as you are.
  • If you pacify your anger and think of your assailant as a benefactor, you will get well quickly.”
  • Inspired by the wisdom of Sahng-jeh-nim’s advice, Gohng-ooh stopped hating the Christian and made up his mind to treat him well the next time they met.
  • A few days later, it was reported that the Christian ministers from twelve towns would gather at the church in Chun-wun Village.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim said to Gohng-ooh, “The gathering of the twelve ministers will heal your injury.” In just three days, Gohng-ooh’s injury completely healed.
  • 10 Sahng-jeh-nim later said, “All disastrous events in the world are brought on by vengeful spirits.
  • 11 Never create vengeful energy. If you have done so, try to resolve each case one by one and bring about reconciliation.”
