• Often Going Without Eating During Works of Renewal
  • Once He began a work of renewing heaven and earth, Sahng-jeh-nim would not stop to eat or relieve Himself. Only when He had finished the work would He attend to other matters.
  • Sometimes, when He was conducting a work in the medicine room, He would not leave the room even for a moment.
  • Bahk Gohng-ooh would bring a wet cloth so that Sahng-jeh-nim could wipe His face.
  • While performing a work of renewal, He often went hungry for lack of time to stop for a proper meal.
  • Sometimes, He wet His hands and made three rice balls from the rice in His bowl, then ate them in the blink of an eye.
  • One day, when Sahng-jeh-nim was served a meal, a fly landed on the rice. Sahng-jeh-nim said, “Having the first bite, you are higher than Me.
  • There is nothing dirtier than a fly.” He would not eat a meal if a fly landed on it.
  • Often, when there was nothing to eat, He eased His hunger by picking fruit in the mountains.
