• Sahng-jeh-nim Restores a Child’s Life
  • In Gu-rit-gohl Village, Sung-ohk, the young son of innkeeper Gim Sa-myung, died suddenly.
  • Throughout the afternoon, Sa-myung tried in vain to revive the boy.
  • Not knowing what else to do, the boy’s mother went to Sahng-jeh-nim’s medicine room with her dead son in her arms.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim already knew of her coming. As she was about to arrive, He said, “It seems My practice will suffer. Here comes someone carrying a corpse.”
  • She laid the deceased child in front of Sahng-jeh-nim. Sobbing, she begged for his life.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim said, “A dead person cannot come back to life.”
  • The boy’s mother cried out sorrowfully, “This child is my only son. If he cannot come back to life, I will die as well.
  • Please take pity on a poor mother and her son.” Her pleading cry seemed to reach heaven.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim’s compassion would not allow Him to witness her misery any longer. He laid the dead boy on His lap and stroked the boy’s stomach.
  • 10 He called out toward the sky, “Have Mee-su bring Ooh-ahm.” He then dropped some of His saliva into the boy’s mouth, and
  • 11 suddenly some fluid came out of the boy’s anus. Crying out, the boy came back to life. Sahng-jeh-nim had him drink a bowl of rice soup and told him to walk back home.
  • 12 Overjoyed as though mad or drunk, the mother exclaimed,
  • 13 “Lord God, Lord God, You have given back my child’s life! Your grace is boundless and immeasurable.” The woman thanked Him in tears of deep gratitude.
  • 14 Sahng-jeh-nim said, “It is fortunate your child came back to life. Raise him to be a benevolent man.”
