• Go Chahn-hohng’s Faith
  • On June 29, Tae-mo-nim summoned Bahk Johng-oh, Go Chahn-hohng, Ee Geun-mohk, Jun Joon-yup, Gahng Eung-chil, Gahng Sa-sung, Gahng Wun-sup, and Ee Suk-bohng to gather in the center’s meeting hall. She had Go Min-hwahn sit in front and the others sit in a semicircle behind him.
  • Tae-mo-nim, dressed in men’s clothes, sat on the altar. She said to Chahn-hohng, “I am Gahng Jeung-san, and Go Min-hwahn is Me. Offer your bows.”
  • “I want Sahng-jeh-nim to appear as a person,” Chahn-hohng protested, “not as a spirit.”
  • Though Tae-mo-nim repeatedly ordered Chahn-hohng to agree with Her, he stubbornly refused.
  • Enraged, She struck him again and again with Her pipe and Her walking stick. Chahn-hohng was so severely beaten that he could barely stand. Yet, he refused to yield.
  • Tae-mo-nim’s anger ceased, and She said to the disciples, “Only when your faith is like his will Sahng-jeh-nim come forth.”
  • She sent Chahn-hohng back to his room to recuperate and said to Bahk Johng-oh, “Go outside and look at the sky.”
  • After Johng-oh looked outside, he reported, “A cloud has formed into the shape of a man on his knees seeking forgiveness.”
  • “That is Chahn-hohng. It will soon change shape.”
  • 10 Johng-oh went out again and soon came back to report, “It has changed into the shape of an ox.”
  • 11 “It will change again,” said Tae-mo-nim. “Watch it carefully.” When Johng-oh did, the cloud changed into the shape of a dog.
