  • A woman who grieved over her lost chance of marriage visited a neighborhood couple who were meditators, and she asked the old couple for a mantra.
  • But the couple had just been quarreling and were very agitated, so the husband simply said, ‘I don’t like anything.’
  • The woman thought this was a mantra and chanted it ceaselessly, even while sitting or lying down. Her family was annoyed by this.
  • One day, she was carrying a large jar of water on her head while chanting. Exasperated, her father struck the jar with a flail; but though the jar fell on rocks, it did not break and the water did not spill.”
