• Do not Say There Is Nothing to Eat
  • In the spring, when Ho-yun was nine, there was a shortage of food. Someone offered Sahng-jeh-nim some cakes made of the inside of pine tree bark and cakes made of mugwort. Sahng-jeh-nim ate them heartily and said,
  • “Do not say there is nothing to eat. It all depends upon the person who prepares the food.”
  • At night, when Sahng-jeh-nim was hungry, Ho-yun would often try to please Him by bringing rice mixed with chopped radish.
