- Su-bu-nim Attains Enlightenment
- 1 The following morning, while walking in the yard, Su-bu-nim fainted, and She remained unconscious for several hours.
- 2 As She lay in a trance, She saw what looked like a weighing scale descending from heaven. When She looked closer, it was a plate full of colorful fruit.
- 3 It descended further and suddenly tipped, and all the fruit spilled onto the ground. Startled, She awoke. The people who had been sitting around Her were relieved.
- Revelation of Dao Lineage
- 4 Su-bu-nim eventually sat up and spoke in Sahng-jeh-nim’s voice. She asked Gyung-suk, “Who are you?” Bewildered, Gyung-suk told Her his name.
- 5 She then asked his year of birth, and he answered 1880.
- 6 “I, too, was born in the year 1880,” She said. “There is a proverb, ‘Two business partners born in the same year make great profits.’ Let us, you and I, work together.”
- 7 She also asked for Gyung-suk’s birthday. He answered that it was June 1.
- 8 She then said, “My birthday is the twenty-sixth of March. I will take charge of spreading the seeds in the field; you will take charge of transplanting the seedlings. There will be another to carry out the harvest.”
- 9 Su-bu-nim was inspired by Sahng-jeh-nim’s sacred spirit and received divine authority. From then on, using this authority at will, She performed wondrous miracles and displayed brilliant wisdom.
- 10 As Tae-mo-nim, the Great Mother of all people, She opened the way leading to Sahng-jeh-nim’s great dao.
