• Sahng-jeh-nim Resolves People’s Worries
  • In June 1909, when Sahng-jeh-nim was staying in Gu-rit-gohl Village, Gyung-hahk visited and said that because of a long dry spell, people were deeply worried that they would be unable to transplant the rice seedlings in time.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim said to Gahp-chil, “Prepare a large pot of fresh water.”
  • He handed Gyung-hahk a rolled-up paper on which He had earlier written something, and said, “Soak this in the water and rub it until it falls to pieces.”
  • Gyung-hahk did as he was told, but it still did not rain.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim said to Gahp-chil, “Giving you the authority of a general, I had intended to call the rain spirit from the West so that the people’s wish could be fulfilled.
  • It has not rained because you fell asleep last night, disobeying My command. Take off your clothes, stand in front of the bowl of water with the palms of your hands together, and ask forgiveness.”
  • Gahp-chil did so, and suddenly dark clouds came from the western sky, bringing heavy rain. In a short time, the stream in front of the house was overflowing.
  • Gyung-hahk said, “I believe that is enough.” Sahng-jeh-nim picked up a fan, waved it once, and the rain soon stopped.
  • Sahng-jeh-nim said to Gahp-chil, “Pour out the fresh water and put your clothes back on.” And to all the disciples, He said,
  • 10 “If you cultivate yourself well, you too can do all things at will.”
