• Winter Solstice
  • One year, on the Winter Solstice, Tae-mo-nim said, “New Year’s Day should be celebrated well.” The disciples understood this to mean the first day of the first lunar month.
  • But, on every following Winter Solstice, She repeated, “New Year’s Day should be celebrated well.” The disciples could not understand what She meant.
  • Warning Against Being Dependent
  • To understand Tae-mo-nim’s words required deep contemplation. If anyone were to ask Her the meaning of something that She said, Tae-mo-nim would hit that person mercilessly with Her pipe and say,
  • “In all matters, you need to reach understanding on your own. If you are in the habit of asking others about every matter, when will you do your own work?” And She would warn against being dependent on others.
