• The Moon of the Later Heaven
  • One night at around ten o’clock, six or seven disciples were sitting with Tae-mo-nim.
  • Gahng Eung-chil commented, “The sun comes up every day, but the moon is bright only around the fifteenth night of the month. Toward the end of the month, we long for its light.”
  • Tae-mo-nim explained, “In the present world of the Early Heaven, the order of heaven and earth is unbalanced. Yin and yang are not in harmony.
  • In the Later Heaven, the sun will rise during the day, and the moon will rise during the night. There will be no leaning toward yin or yang.
  • I could make the moon appear this very instant, but I will not because the time is not right.”
  • A few of the disciples pleaded to see the moon, and
  • Tae-mo-nim replied, “Even though I should not, I will let you see the moon’s light for a moment because you desire it so much.
  • In your minds, repeat ‘Moonlight Shed Evenly Bodhisattva’ and look at the eastern sky.”
  • They all looked up at the sky, and they saw, over a high mountain in the east, a brilliant moon like a large wheel.
